Thanks for the knee-jerk reaction, Swarm. I actually expected you to post some hand-waving dismissal of some sort or another. You always did have a serious problem with astrotheology. You've clearly just never studied the issue . More scholars are finally admitting the case - thanks to the work by Acharya S & others.

Nevertheless, while the youtube videos can certainly get "hokie," one link comes from ex-Muslims who did a good job presenting the basics.

          Who's "inventing stories?"

Seems to me that the denial of the Pagan Allah is clearly a revisionist Islam trying to cover up their pre-Islamic past.

          Former Muslims admit

"Historical evidences, impartial logic, well versed references and all available circumstantial judgments can very well prove that—(a) Allah name of deity was pre-existed much before the arrival of Islam, (b) Pre-Islamic Pagan peoples worshipped Allah as their supreme deity (moon-god). Allah’s name existed in pre-Islamic Arab. In ancient Arab the Allah was considered to be the supreme God/deity (as Moon-God) and Arab Pagans worshipped Allah before Islam arrived. "

Was the Kaaba Originally a Hindu Temple?

The Kaaba was definitely not Hindu in any usual sense of the term. Evidence suggests Greco-Roman, Sabian, Semitic, and other religious traditions had as much or more influence on the syncretic pantheon of the Kaaba. Finding Ganesh or other Hindu statuary on the Arabian peninsula is interesting, but scarcely demands a substantial rewrite of history to accommodate. In any event, show me a Muslim who denies that the Kaaba was once a pagan temple and I'll show you a recent and largely ignorant convert.

Seems, like I've been talking about Islam a lot lately. Maybe its a misperception on my part, but it appears that a new wave of anti-Islanic propaganda is gaining force.

A good book I recently finished which counter-balances the growing ignorant rhetoric with carefully gathered facts is: www.amazon.com/Who-Speaks.../ref=sr_1_4

          Hi Chaz,

I'm not the one advocating a "moon god" theory, although I readily acknowledge the Pagan influence on (and roots of) Islam, Judaism, and Christianity (as well as other religions).

As to the association with Astronomical phenomena with deities, this trend is nigh universal with most deities having celestial associations of one type or another.

          Warmly yours,
          Ryan

It averages 4 stars which is pretty good. 27 people reviewed the book, 20 of whom gave it either 4 or 5 stars.

Have even you bothered to read it? I'm betting you haven't. Too busy being biased to want to actually learn something.

If any group can be trusted to get more right than wrong (regarding tracking trends in opinion) it is gallop. I'm not saying they're perfect, but if you want to get a good general primer on how most Muslims view a range of issues, this book is a good place to start. Definitely a "popular" presentation, and not for specialists, but still a decent book. Its also a very easy and light read.

PS you still haven't answered the direct question I asked you. Please actually *answer* it this time.

Do you believe there are any religions which do not have there roots in "pagan" religions?

If so, do you believe that Judaism or Christianity tradition are among them?

Given Lucas' fondness for Campbell, I'm going to have to disagree on Jedi religion. But I might grant you scientology ;-)

there is little difference between sci fi and any other myth tradition other than terminology and scientology is just poor sci fi

                  Scientology is really a religion of the mind, and is based on lots of our ancient myths;

                  esp. Native American,

he pretty much plagiarized it all too

and has very little to do with science of Sci fi

except perhaps for Hubbard being a fan of space odyssey technology and comic books, etc

It was because of Joesph Campbell that i first discovered the ties within and between of all religions and Myths

                    and the Hero's Journey,

the only problem with Campbell was he didn't know much about Africa and their myths

he connected all the branches, but hadn't found the roots

The story of Star Wars and the Jedi (Djedi) were taken right out of books of Kemet (Ancient Egypt)
